After meeting Fatima, Santiago visited her often and became friends with her, telling her about his life and journey. Before long, the caravan leader told the people that the war could last for years, as Allah was fighting on both sides. Soon enough, Fatima fell in love with Santiago as well and didn't want his love for her to hold him back from his dreams, claiming that their love would be unchanged like the desert. He wandered the desert, looking for answers about his life, trying to distinguish love from possession. As he wandered, he began to understand the language of the world. With this knowledge, he glimpsed the colliding of hawks in the air and quickly envisioned an army attacking the oasis. At once, he warned the camel driver of the army, only for him to call the boy a seer. The camel driver told the boy stories of seers who were feared because they saw the future even when sometimes wrong. The Alchemist - Blog 2

The old man spoke to the boy about the prophecies of life and insisted he follow his destiny to find the treasure. With this knowledge, the boy decided to go fulfil his dreams and go to Egypt. He thought about his sheep, and how he didn't want to leave them, knowing they would suffer without him. He then remembered that when he left his parents, they adjusted, so his sheep could as well.  He also thought about the merchant's daughter, then removing his thought, claiming that she had probably already forgotten about her. Santiago arrived in Egypt, filled with hope. Not too long after he arrived, he met a young man who claimed he could show him the way to the pyramids, but he needed the money for it. The young man took Santiago to a bar and he trustingly gave him his money as the bartender shouted. Unfortunately, Santiago didn't know this was a warning as the bartender spoke Arabic. The Alchemist - Blog 1

This narrative currently entails a young shepherd named Santiago who travels from place to place in Sp ain, offering the sale of the wool from his herd of sheep to merchants. He has a fondness for exploration and reading. In Andalusia, he came upon the daughter of a merchant who he couldn't stop thinking about since he saw her on his previous travel the year before. As Santiago made his return to the said merchant, he was again blessed with her presence as she exclaimed  "I didn't know shepherds knew how to  read," on page 9. He sp oke to her for hours, telling her stories of his travels, realizing that he was slowly falling in love with her. After leaving, he reminisces the days of his father giving him three Spanish gold coins to fulfill his dreams of being a shepherd. He dreamt about having a life with the  daughter  of the merchant and went to an old lady in Tarifa who interprets dreams. He spoke to her of his dreams of finding hidden treasure in Egypt.
